We like sumac for its punchy, earthy, citrusy flavor, making it a great substitute for lemon, tamarind or vinegar. It is originally a red berry from Turkey and is traditionally used with za'atar or yogurt. It's flecks of deep purple are beautiful sprinkled over a salad, mixed into a vinaigrette, or sprinkled on fruit. It is also lovely on roasted veggies (as are many of Villa Jerada's spices!).
